The Trailblazers Hunt

Bangsar, Sri Hartamas, Brickfields, Pusat Bandar Damansara... If you saw about 40 cars travelling through these few areas on a Saturday morning, most likely it was us going around this area as part of the Trailblazers KL Motor Hunt :)

It started out in McDonalds Bangsar, and ended in Indiana Cafe Bangsar.

The hunt itself was not too bad, the usual team was me, CG, NY and MC. We thought we were doing well, having quite a suitable answer for all the questions. We made some last minute changes in the treasures which we thought we were smart about, but it still turned out wrong. This was in the question in regards to the Jack and Jill, which we originally thought potato chips, since there was an anagram there, and then we swapped to Roller Coasters, because of the words "rapid rotation?". In the end, the answer was NIPS, which was an anagram of spin. Note to self: I need to eat more junk food to know all this stuff.
We also were a bit careless in the Original Pie Factory answer, because like other novices, we just put "The Pie Shop" instead of the "Original Pie Factory" because the clue stated not fake. Aduh, hunt so many times redi, and we were just rushing over that in PBD. Wasted lar. Overall, we made a total of 73 points and the team in 5th place was like 89 points.
The food in Indiana Cafe was not the best in the world, but it was good that the organisers understood that and aimed to improve next time. It would be worst if they said " Too bad, see ya later". Not sure if it was catered by the actual cafe, but the venue was too small (refer pics), standing room with no airconditioning at one point.. If you wanna serve food, serve something else than rice, dhal, and vege curry. At one point, they bought McDonalds nuggts and served those with it, which was kinda nice cos they realised that some people lined up a very long line to take plates, but saw the food and walked off.

I've ordered some catering before, and we paid RM60 a person for a hunt, and I know for RM15 a person, you can get a pretty good spread of catering lunch. With no door freebies, this turned out to be one of the least value hunts I've ever been. We did however win ourselves a lucky draw, some travel bags (which were maybe leftovers as it was handed out as a registration door gift as well). I was happy that they gave out prizes to 5 winners, instead of the original top 3 (as what was told to us during the briefing) albeit, the winner probably had to go home with a smaller amount because of that.

After hunting for about a year or so, this was kinda the determining factor for me whether I was going to swing my vote to attend the Kiwanis Hunt this year. The entry fee per person is RM350, and a little pricey for me. But it is infact quite worth it for 3 days 2 nights, with 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts and a lunch. I told my team, if we made it to top 15, I would go.The actual result session did not reveal our position, but a quick count by Raj the CoC on that day, showed that we were about 20 or 21st place. So, no Kiwanis hunt this year for me, and am considering retirement from this sport...I guess after going to so many hunts, am kinda tired of winning lucky draws, and time to win the actual hunt.

Check out Michael Pang site(he was the winner) for another review and full results.. Congrats to the usual suspects who won!

Hi, I hope you would reconsider not going for Kiwanis.

Since you're already in Penang for the Hospis hunt, join in the Eye-Q hunt the next day. I Guarantee that you'll have a mind-boggling day. Never mind if you don't win, experiencing the proffessionalism of the COC alone is well worth your effort.

Hi, I hope all those keen on treasure hunt will check out the Kiwanis Treasure Hunt scheduled for 26th-28th May. Yes, it's RM350 per person, but this is for the Hunt + 2 nights stay at a 4-star beach resort (Damai Laut) + 5 meals provided - it's a great deal. Plus you will be doing your part to raise funds for the less fortunate in our society.

I'm with the committee planning this event and we're busy procuring sponsors and prizes and planning fun activities for all participants during and after the hunt. After all this is the 25th anniversary of the Kiwanis Treasure Hunt, and we want everyone to have fun! Hope to see you there.

Oops, just been pointed out that I put the wrong dates in my comments for the Kiwanis hunt. The correct dates are from May 24th to 26th (Sat-Mon). Please take note, and apologies for any confusion caused.
